Daniel Hope

In 2009 Daniel Hope was awarded the ECHO Klassik Prize for the fifth time. His was a pupil of the legendary violin pedagogue Zakhar Bron, and worked with Yehudi Menuhin for a long time.

The British violinist has played in all the world’s important concert halls and has been a guest at major international festivals. He works with conductors such as Kurt Masur, Christian Thielemann, and Kent Nagano as well as with renowned orchestras like the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, the Munich Philharmonic, the Radio Symphony Orchestras of Berlin, London, and Moscow, the Orchestre National de France, the Oslo Philharmonic, and the Symphony Orchestras of Boston and Chicago.

His engagement for contemporary music is underscored by close relations to composers such as Schnittke, Kurtág, and Takemitsu. Daniel Hope’s artistic versatility is reflected in thematic projects with actors such as Klaus Maria Brandauer or the singer Sting, in radio and television broadcasts, and in his books. He is associate artistic director of the Savannah Music Festival in Georgia and artistic partner at Germany’s Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.
