started out as a freelancer for Jeunesses Musicales Austria and in 1988 was made manager of the Artistic Office of Claudio Abbado's Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. In 1991, he took over the management of the Camerata Academica Salzburg, where he worked until 1996 as general secretary for the ensemble and Sándor Végh. From 1996 to 2003, Naske managed the Jeunesses Musicales Austria, until he was given the post of Managing Director of the Philharmonie Luxembourg January 2003, with responsibility for building up the organisational and artistic management of the new concert hall. Since its opening in June 2005, one of his main focuses has been on the realization of the idea of a European concert hall. In November 2005, the Philharmonie was accepted into the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO). Since the start of 2012, the Philharmonie has been linked on an organisational and legal basis with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxembourg (OPL). Matthias Naske is today at the head of this organisation as Acting Director, while also working in an advisory capacity for a number of new international concert hall projects.
